Project Ken – to help improve the life and health of a homeless man – episode 1

Today I would like to take the opportunity to share with you something a little out of left field. It is a video that I made on Wednesday about my little challenge to try and improve the health and life of a homeless man named Ken. I will let the video elaborate on the rest but ultimately this is not to get people saying how novel my idea is nor is it for my own praise but merely a way to show you that we can all help others in many ways and to try and improve the lives of others and I hope that by sharing this video it gives you a rev-up to try to make a positive impact on someone’s life if the opportunity arises for you.

In my everyday job and my passion for close to 20 years now I have always sought to get the very best out of people – it’s what I do, who I am and what I love doing. Personal Training to me is more than just sweat, exercise, max reps and a “see you next session” approach. It is way more than that. It is a journey and it is a process that involves behaviour change, rapport, friendship, passion, empathy and all in all it requires the education and science to help drag along with you the client to get to the next step. In that process you guide the client to take ownership and be a part of the behaviour change process along the way. In the end, I get results and I get an immense satisfaction in doing so – it is my very own reward centre. Well ‘Ken’ will possibly be my biggest challenge!

Thanks and hope you are enjoying the great weather we have had recently to kick off spring!

P.S. I am not a fan of the ‘selfie’ nor have I ever taken one of myself so this video was a bit confronting and not my best angle!
